Who we are

Sunsasa Foundation: Helping those in need with food, education, and more

What do you think of when you think of charitable organizations? Homeless shelters? Food banks? If you’re thinking of any of these, then you’re certainly on the right track; these are all organizations that help people in need, and they all make great contributions to their local communities.

Sunsasa was founded by a group of friends who wanted to make an impact on their community. The first few years of its operation were spent researching the needs of the people of Africa. Eventually, we found that there was a desperate need for help with food and education. We set up projects to help address these issues and have been operating ever since. 1) Food distribution centers are one way we try to alleviate hunger. These centers provide meals to hungry children, women, and seniors in impoverished areas every day.2) Education is another issue at hand – as of now it is out of reach for many families due to high costs or lack of resources. But not anymore! Our mission has led us to establish schools in several communities across Africa so children can get the best education possible.3) Lastly, our glossary program has provided information about health care, childcare, finances – basically anything someone might need! All together these programs have helped improve living conditions for hundreds if not thousands of families over time.

Our approach

How we help?
Through donations of money, goods and services, we help to meet the needs of people who live in poverty. Our goal is to empower them to break the cycle of poverty on their own.

We offer a diverse range of services that provide sustainable solutions for some of society’s most pressing problems.

Through our multiple programs we work hard to empower people living in poverty to break the cycle of poverty on their own. We are committed to offering a diverse range of services that provide sustainable solutions for some of society’s most pressing problems.
Some of our programs include education for young children, who face barriers to learning. We help provide training for women who live in slum settlements so they can learn to provide safe sanitation facilities. To end illiteracy we teach young adults to read using their native language. Finally, we provide vocational training so that families can become self-sufficient through small business enterprise. This way families living in poverty are empowered to break the cycle of poverty on their own rather than rely on others for assistance or handouts.

Our Story

The Sunsasa Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to provide help to the many impoverished people living in South Africa.

We also aim to provide an environment where these people can grow their knowledge and skills while being empowered by the love of Christ. The organization’s work provides a safety net for many vulnerable populations such as orphans, widows, single mothers, AIDS victims, abused women, street children and many others. We do this by providing basic needs such as food and clothing; academic assistance like tutoring; vocational training through our sewing center; spiritual guidance through Bible study groups. Finally we try to help them get back on their feet by helping them find employment or offering advice on how they can start up their own business.
